First she waited in the car and then we waited in the car.....

Last week was round three!! After waiting for the right temp (T's that is) and a few false starts, we finally got the call Tuesday evening to come down. Tonight was the night. We quickly cancelled our dinner plans (which took forever to schedule) with another couple that is adopting a baby in March, made some sandwiches, grabbed the dog and hopped in the car in the pouring rain and headed to Southern Washington.
The weather truly was awful.
When I called a friend to tell him that we were heading down to for our third insemination, he got very cranky, complaining about how inconvenient it was for us to drive so far, so late and in such bad weather. I quickly explained that having a child was all about being inconvenienced. This was only the beginning of the end of Me. For some Gay men that is almost inconceivable. Tom and I have noticed that when we have gone out over the past few months and talking with someone with whom we wanted to end a conversation. All we had to do was to just bring up the fact that we are trying to have a child. It's amazing how quickly they would run away. Amazing how frightened some guys are of this.
On the flip side it's pretty cool how so many of our friends gay and straight are so interested, concerned and of course keeping their fingers crossed. This would be a good time to start sending out some "hope you're pregnant" vibes. We'll take all the help we can get.
Tom and I decided to stay the night since the weather was so crappy. We got up had breakfast at our favorite restaurant in Woodland, WA - The Oak Tree.
Okay, it's not really our favorite. There is this masochistic side of us where we subject ourselves to places like this in the sticks of Washington. We had eaten here on the way home from Burning Man last year and it was equally shocking the second time around.
On the way out in the parking lot we saw a car pull up with an older couple, both gray haired, him weighing in at about 325 and her at about 220. They had that sort of "death by dining" look to them. As we passed their car we saw a bumper sticker on the back with a female stick figure, a plus sign and a male stick figure then an equal sign and then of course marriage. Our first reaction was to crack up laughing because this happy couple was far, far from those stick figures. Then we talked about how sad it was that children are starving in our state, our education system is failing and our soldiers are dying in other countries and this was the most important issue to these people. Then of course, we kissed. Yeah us.
Wish us luck this time around and let us know you were here.

Jay and I both love finding little backroad dives like the Oak Tree. For me the litmus test is the quality of their chicken fried steak and gravy.
Sending you best wishes for successful insemination.
